Start Here - The Course

I am going to start by introducing you to a fantastic music course I have found. It helped me through my studies and it is available on a Creative Commons licence.

Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).

I am going to use excerts from it, and I will always credit the author when I am referring to the work. I will distinguish when this blog uses my own words and when they are not my own words by including the CC Copywrite logo and the Authors name. When it is my own words I will not need to publish the logo.

Summary: This course introduces the basic concepts and terms needed to discuss melody and harmony. It is intended for teens or adults with no background in music theory but some familiarity with reading common notation and playing an instrument (or singing). Concepts covered include interval, major and minor keys and scales, triads and chords.
